So, after using their service for almost five years, paying for the Pro account (which is paid up until 2010), and uploading over 13,000 images which have been viewed over 100,000 times I received an email from "Joe" at flickr customer support today threatening to delete my account because I violate their terms of service:
Hi giovanni@gallucci.net,
In joining Flickr, you agreed to abide by the Terms of
Service and Community Guidelines. Flickr accounts are
intended for individual use, for our members to share
photos that they've taken, not to sell stuff:"Don't Use Flickr for Commercial Purposes Flickr is for
personal use only. If you sell products, services or
yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your
account. any other commercial use of Flickr, Flickr
technologies (including aPIs, Flickrmail, etc), or Flickr
accounts must be approved by Flickr."http://www.flickr.com/guidelines.gne
Please remove the URLs that link to your store/auction(s)
from underneath your photos and/or any sales verbiage or
“for sale” sets at your earliest convenience so that we
don't have to take further action on your account.Regards,
Joe
So here's the problem...I don't have a "store or auction" link in the description of my images. I *do* put links to my websites and to my social networking profiles. Here is the description to the latest set of images I have on flickr (http://flickr.com/photos/theagencyblog/sets/72157603730923877/):
Devo - January, 15th 2008 at The Warfield - San Francisco From my trip with xTrain.com @ Macworld 2008. come by booth 416 to see speakers all three days during the exposition! follow me on twitter.com/giovanni and @ theagencyblog.com for up to the minute updates on the speakers, events and mac nerd celebrity sightings.
